The prices vary a bit depending on where in the city you are going, but usually it lands at €30-50 (it is possible to negotiate with the drivers).
If you want to splurge a little extra (or there are a few more people), there are also private transfers that you can pre-book: a minibus for 7 people or car for 3 - 7 travelers, with space for as many suitcases as people.
Costs about the same as a taxi, but you have to figure out where to meet your driver, it's often a long way from the airport, so not really worth it.
If they are unlucky, they completely rely on their GPS and don't know the city very well.
Take the train if you are going to live close to the station - take a taxi or book a private transfer if you live a little further away
Having the suit available at hand when out on the town in Amsterdam is recommended. Many shops and department stores ask you to identify yourself with your passport when shopping with your credit card.
Many hotels also want you to show your passport at reception when entering during the first few days. It's easy to get access to ATMs all over town, but exchanging some cash at home and taking it with you is always a good idea.
Make sure to get smaller denominations as not everyone has change for the biggest notes. Comfortable shoes are also good to think about if you are going to walk around town for a whole day. Amsterdam is a classic walking city and you best discover all its sights on foot.
Travel guide is always convenient to have with you, so you don't have to be afraid of missing anything and you can plan the trip according to what you want to do.
