Dam Square

The square is centrally located and very easy to find. This is the center of Amsterdam's culture and history and there are many interesting things to discover around the square. The square has a lot of history and guided tours are available. In 1808 Napoleon and his troops gathered here to take over the entire city.

It is home to the Royal Palace, which attracts a lot of attention with its beautiful design and sculptures. Around the square there are also various shopping streets and galleries. The square is a quiet place where hundreds of tourists gather every day to learn about the history of Amsterdam.

There are a variety of restaurants and cafes adjacent to the square and it's a great place to take a break and just take in the surroundings.

Leidseplein

Leidseplein is one of Amsterdam's most popular squares. It is extremely rich in nightlife and is where locals and tourists alike hang out until the wee hours of the morning. Here you will find some of Amsterdam's biggest nightclubs and the square is always in motion, both on weekdays and weekends.

There's everything to make your evening a success, whatever you're looking for. You can have a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants and round it off with a visit to a cozy bar or a cinema.

There are also plenty of coffeeshops and livelier nightclubs to visit in the later hours. Be aware that some places are so popular that it can sometimes be a good idea to get there early.

Theaters are plentiful, and if you don't want to go to a real show, you can always sit on an outdoor terrace and watch one of the many entertainers, including musicians, fire-eaters and jugglers.

Rembrandtplein

Rembrandtplein is the main gathering place for tourists at night. Some of the locals move around here too, but most of the evening visitors are Europeans of various kinds. Here you can encounter Dutch culture at various music bars that play only Dutch music.

Here are the biggest gay bars and it can be very nice and interesting to meet the colorful world with all that it means. In the middle of the train there is a small park where you can sit until early morning and just hang out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

It also offers lively nightclubs that are open all night and can accommodate several hundred people. By day, you can shop in the small shops filled with souvenirs and Dutch symbols of all kinds. Or why not grab a coffee on one of the many outdoor cafés that can be found here.

Museum Square

Home to three world-renowned museums - the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum - Museumplein offers something for everyone. The Rijksmuseum is the largest and most popular museum in Amsterdam, with works from Rembrandt, Vermeer and other Dutch masters.

Next door you'll find the Van Gogh Museum dedicated to the life and works of Vincent van Gogh, with the world's largest collection of his paintings. Finally, the Stedelijk Museum is home to a large collection of modern art, including works by Picasso and Matisse.

Whether you're a fan of art or not, Museumplein is a great place to meet.
